    Writing
By the end of Year 2, we hope the children will be able to join all of their letters neatly on the line.
At this point in year 2, some children are doing pre-cursive handwriting. They are able to form the letters correctly, but not yet able to join.
    Maths

At Meadlands, we expect the children to take great pride and care with all their written work. At the start of the year, a maths lesson is dedicated to the reminding the children how to set out their math's work, so that the layout is consistent across the year group. Our expectations around layout is:

    1. All maths work completed in pencil, or purple pen for responding to marking or completing reasoning and problem solving work.

    2. A digit per maths square – we say to the children “one digit one square” to remind them.

    3. Any written work in their maths book e.g. learning challenge or word problems should be as neat as they would write in any other book.
