Writing
Step 1 is our non-negotiables - those things all children should remember consistently when writing in Year 1.
Step 2 demonstrates what a child needs to achieve and be fluent at to be working at the Meadlands expected standard
Step 3 demonstrates what a child needs to achieve and be fluent at to be working at the Meadlands exceeding standard.
Work Expectations
By the end of Year 1, children's letters are expected to be formed accurately (see letter formation rhymes in phonics section) and writing should be legible, consistently sized and sat on the line. Children are not expected to join their writing in Year 1, however as we move through the year, staff will begin to teach pre-cursive and cursive writing to those who are ready to progress.
