Awards

At Meadlands we dream big for our children and our school. As a result of this we feel very lucky to have been recognised for our hard work and the children’s brilliant efforts. In the past year we have celebrated a number of awards for children, our curriculum and even for staff.

Meadlands has been awarded 2021 Summer Garden Chairman’s Cup for the Best Garden for Wildlife by the London Children's Flower Society! We are so lucky to have such extensive grounds and to have so many children, parents and staff making the most of them and helping us to make sure they are kept to a high standard for all to use.

Pearson National Teaching Awards: HeadTeacher of the Year Silver Award 2020, Mrs McGeoch

Mrs McGeoch was nominated by parents, staff and governors and was awarded a silver trophy as Headteacher of the Year 2020. She said: What a surprise and treat to be presented with the Pearson Headteacher Silver Award by the children and staff at Meadlands Primary School this morning. It is such an honor to represent Meadlands. This award is for the whole Meadlands family! Working with such supportive parents, talented staff and kind, funny, hard working children makes my life as a Headteacher a great one.

London Active School Hero Award, Mr Josh Penberthy

Mr Penberthy was nominated by parents for his work in PE and inspiring young athletes, rugby, football, tennis and netball players! He was awarded first place in Richmond-upon-Thames for his work in schools. We are immensely proud of him and know that the children continue to love sport at Meadlands because of Mr P!

HLTA Achievement, Mrs Jenni Nicholas and Mrs Melissa Spicer

At Meadlands our motto is Work Hard & Be Kind and both Mrs Nicholas and Mrs Spicer demonstrate how ambition and hard work can lead to great things. In the summer of 2021 they both completed and passed their HLTA qualifications. Congratulations!

Post Graduate Qualification in Education, Mrs Jo Wreford

Congratulations to Mrs Wreford for recently completing her Post Grad qualification in Education, she is now focused on the completion of her Masters. This means good news for her and for Meadlands, not only will we have a teacher who is a Master of Education - but her dissertation will focus upon research and development on spelling strategies for all children. This is a fundamental part of our English action plan for 2021-22.

Primary Science Quality Mark 2021

We were awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark in the summer of 2021, the children and staff were immensely proud of this achievement as it shows how much our school enjoys science. We have links with other schools in the area, St Marys University, The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew as well as having Forest Schools status. This, along with our extensive grounds, shows that when it comes to science – we love to get outside, explore, ask questions and investigate!

Achieving for Children’s School’s Attachment Aware Award 2021

Our ethos and behaviour policies are based on attachment theory and this is an area we are continuing to develop through our school development plan 2021/22. Our work thus far has been recognised by the local authority and we were delighted to achieve this award.

Meadlands has achieved the Gold Sports Mark Award - recognising our oustanding Sport, PE & Healthy Living provision - for four years running! The School Games Mark is a government-led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and allowing schools to evaluate their provision.  We have achieved Gold Healthy Schools status for our PE and Healthy Living provision since 2018.

Artsmark Award 2022

We were awarded a silver Artsmark Award in the autumn of 2022. We are very proud of our Arts provision at Meadlands, providing children a progressive arts curriculum where we utilise the expertise of professional teachers to teach LAMDA, dance and music lessons. Our feedback from the Artsmark assessors commented on the tangible results our emphasis on arts and culture has on our pupils and staff along with our celebration and exploration of a range of diverse artists.
