Meadlands hold termly 'Super Learning Days' to celebrate and explore topics as a whole school. In the past these have included Shakespeare, Strictly Come Learning (Learn to Learn) and 'Bounceback' (How to be resilient in our life and learning).
'Dare2Be' took place in the Spring Term of 2014 and it highlighted the importance of the Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural dimension to school life... Have a look at Uptown Meadlands video on our news section.
We also hold regular School Grounds Days, where all children take a day out of the classroom to care for our beautiful grounds. Each class has a specific area of the outdoor space which they care for be that the wormery, hedgerow or composting. It's also a chance for the teacher to cover part of their Geography or Science curriculum through outdoor learning. This year we have had a Treehouse Birdhide built and have welcomed a flock of chickens to the homestead!
Parent partnership is essential to your child's learning and we take that very seriously here at Meadlands. Every year we hold a 'VIP (Very Important Parent) Day', where children can bring a parent or significant adult to school for the day, to observe a lesson and learn about a 'day in the life' of their child. Hugely popular and marvellously beneficial for staff, children and parents alike - this is just one way learning at Meadlands is unique.
As well as this each half term we celebrate a specific subject and in the past year we have enjoyed a successful Arts Week, Book Week, Science Week and Healthy Living Week.
