Friends of Meadlands
Friends of Meadlands is a School Parent/Teachers Association, The PTA, but in our school known as The Aunts. The Friends is a registered charity designed to raise extra and much needed funds to benefit the children at the Meadlands.
Last year we raised over £10,000 through events such as the welcome BBQ, Harvest Festival, Quiz Nights, Band Nights, Movies Nights, Disco, Christmas & Summer Fair, Friday Sales, Cake Sales and Uniform Sales.
We are happy to announce that in 2017-2018 the money raised supported big projects such The Music Factory, our brand new bespoke music room.
In 2018-19 we are aiming high and hoping to raise £20,000 towards our Sport and Outdoor Play development plan. We would like to re-surface the MUGA (Multi Use Games Activity centre) to make it a high quality football/netball pitch for the children and local community to use as well as re-design and create a brand new outdoor space for the Early Years.
There are many ways you can support us make this big dream come true and we shall be sending information out to parents on how to do this! In the meantime, one big and fun way to help us raise money is by coming along and supporting our PTA events. Not only does this raise money for the school but it is also a great way to socialise.

How you can help
One way to get to involved is to become a Class Representative. Class Reps are responsible for organising class assemblies, tea, coffee and class cake sales. They man and organise the class stall for our main PTA events such as the Xmas & Summer Fair.
We realise that finding spare time can be close to impossible. However any time that you can give the school can be hugely rewarding. It is a great way to meet other parents and teachers and get involved in some of the activities that are important to your child/children.
Two other easy and non time consuming ways of raising money are Easyfundraising and Match Funding!
Easyfundraising. Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be collecting free donations for Meadlands primary school? There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's – it doesn't cost you a penny extra! Check out www.easyfundraising.com for more details.
Matched Funding. Matched Funding is a simple way of maximising the fundraising efforts of our school. It is an informal albeit corporate arrangement between a company and their employee. Not all companies offer matched funding but those that do will pledge a sum of money relating to the amount that their employee has raised for or donated to the charity of their choice (for example Friends of Meadlands charity).
Some organisations will match fund on a £ for £ basis, others will stipulate what they are prepared to give. Some companies will also pledge time and resources instead of money, thus enabling their employees to support a cause during their working week, or offering a tangible service such as the opportunity to print posters, programmes, newsletters etc.
