Josh Penberthy, Sports Coach (whole school) and Teaching Assistant Year 6
With a huge field, football pitch, basketball pitch, tennis tables and specialist teaching led by Mr Penberthy, children thrive in sport at Meadlands. The school has developed strong links with local sports teams and we take part in local Borough Competitions.

Once again we had a fantastic sqimming squad this year and huge congratulations to our 3 amazing swimming finalists, Lucas (y6), Finn-Torre (y3) and Fabio (y4), who came 1st (twice), 2nd and 6th place in the Richmond small schools swimming finals this week. They really did Miss Bunker, their families and the school proud. Keep it up, boys! Great shot of Lucas in action in the butterfly finals!

At Meadlands we value reflection time. Time to sit quietly, gather thoughts and be gentle. We teach our children how to do this through yoga. Yoga lessons run throughout the school from Nursery to Year 6, every week and are team taught by our staff and Sarah Tucker, a local professional yoga teacher. Share radio interviewed Mrs McGeoch and Sarah Tucker on the benefits of yoga in the curriculum: https://audioboom.com/boos/4728589-consuming-issues-should-yoga-be-introduced-in-schools-listen-here-to-find-out
You may wonder what on Earth is going on in these photos... Well let me tell you! Some rather wonderful groovers and shakers from years 2 to 6 were selected to take part in a dance club with Boundless Dance Company last term and produced two amazing pieces for the parents. These photos are of their second - a James Bond themed dance, performed in the dark with torches! Very exciting. Great work Meadlands dancers.
This half term, all children from reception to year 6 took part in a day of 'Skip2bfit' skipping workshops and had an absolutely brilliant time, as you can see in the photos below. Huge congratulations to the outstanding school champion, Minna (Y5), who beat Miss Bunker in the skip off final! The Meadlands playground and streets of Ham have been buzzing with skipping children ever since... Who needs a computer when you can have fun outside?
